Louie works for KGO as a business editor and a tech reporter. He joined the station in May 1972. Since joining, he has served the station for over 5 decades. He covers Silicon Valley and the innovators who keep generating fresh products and services.
He learned to process black and white film as he used to take photos using a Brownie Instamatic. Now he uses a high-end Canon DSLR and travels worldwide to take photos that he “processes” in digital imaging software. While he was in school, he wrote term papers using a typewriter. Further, he went on to build a “hacker special.” It is a PC that was collected from elements that he bought in a sale at the electronics store that he went to.
Also, he used to write for his high school newspaper and served as a newspaper delivery boy. At age 5, he was put on TV by a neighbor who produced weekly public affairs show. After serving on-camera for 8 years, he decided to partake in a TV news career.
Throughout his career, he has served on stage at Radio City Music Hall in absence of the Rockettes for the Daytime Emmy Awards. This happened when he was the national chairman of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
Moreover, he was inducted into two halls of fame in high school and college journalism school. Further, he has gained two-lifetime achievement awards from the Asian American Journalists Association and the City & County of San Francisco. To boot, he has four Emmy statuettes. In his free time, he is in the kitchen experimenting or on the road hunting for great food.
