Kunz has worked for ABC7 for a quarter of a century. In February of 2001, he became the Eyewitness News Automotive Specialist. His work on camera makes ABC7 the only station in Southern California with a dedicated reporter covering automobiles and related topics, in addition to his roles as a photographer and editor.
However, his television career got off to a strange start. While Dave was a business major in college, he was offered a “temporary, part-time job” at KABC-TV. Even though he would always rely on business to provide for his family, broadcasting kept calling his name. He went on to have an important career in television, starting at KTLA and then returning to KABC.
After some time, Dave was able to combine his love of wheels and his work in television. As a result, he now gets to experience just about anything that uses gasoline (and, increasingly, clean new cars that don’t). He is a member of both the Society of Automotive Historians and the Motor Press Guild. Dave also helps out as an emcee at local vintage car shows like the Art Center Car Classic, Newport Beach Concours d’Elegance, and Palos Verdes Concours d’Elegance.
