Ed Bradley was an American broadcast journalist as well as a news anchor. He was known for reporting on 60 Minutes and CBS News. Bradley started his career in journalism as a radio news reporter in Philadelphia. His first covered his major story in 1964 Philadelphia about a race riot. He then went to New York City in 1967 where he served as a radio news reporter for WCBS. After four years, Bradley went to Paris, France. Here, he covered the Paris Peace Accords as a stringer for CBS News. Ed then went to Vietnam in 1972 where he covered the Vietnam War and the Cambodian Civil War

After the wars, Bradley moved to Washington, D.C. where he covered Jimmy Carter’s first presidential campaign. He was the very first African American White House correspondent for CBS News. He worked here from 1976–1978. At that time, he anchored the Sunday night broadcast of the CBS Evening News, until 1981.

Bradley joined 60 Minutes in 1981. He reported on approximately 500 stories both 60 Minutes and CBS which won him numerous Peabody and Emmy awards. Some of the topics he covered include the rescue of Vietnamese refugees, segregation in the United States, the AIDS epidemic in Africa, and sexual abuse within the Catholic Church. Bradley died in 2006 of leukemia.
