Ivy began her career in broadcast journalism at Park Hill South High School, where she hosted the daily 5-minute live newscast, “South Side Scoop,” multiple times a week. During her senior year, Ivy also had the chance to attend the Student Television Network National Convention and Competition in Seattle, Washington.
Ivy considered broadcasting to be merely a hobby, but in the summer before her first year of college, she realized that she didn’t want to give it up. She decided at the last minute to complete a year of community college in Kansas City to apply to a reputable broadcast journalism program. Ivy, who was still enthralled with the Pacific Northwest, relocated to Pullman, Washington, to attend Washington State University. There, she was a DJ, HR Director, and Interim General Manager for KUGR College Radio in addition to taking part in Murrow News 8.
Ivy is thrilled to have relocated to the Upper Peninsula for her first post-college employment. She considers herself fortunate to be able to pursue her passions and call it “work”. She is eager to hear about and get to know the experiences of the people living in the Upper Peninsula. Ivy enjoys cooking, playing word searches, going to local businesses, cooking, watching new TV series and movies, and hanging out with her boyfriend and her miniature dog, Obee.
