John is an American 6 time Emmy award winning journalist currently working as a multimedia reporter and videographer at WJMN-TV CBS Local 3 news in Marquette, Michigan. He began his broadcasting career as a reporter and janitor at a small station in Marquette before moving on to bigger roles. He worked in local television news in Grand Rapids, Philadelphia, and Chicago before moving up to the network level at CBS News, where he covered some of the biggest stories of the twenty-first century, such as the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City, the Iraq War in Baghdad, and the presidential campaigns of Clinton, Bush, and Obama.
John enjoys reporting on politics and government and had the good fortune to work several times inside the White House. John traveled the world documenting festivals and cultural events while working as the director of photography for a Discovery Channel travel show. In addition to several local and regional honors, John has received six Emmys for his videography.
John made the decision to return to his family in the Upper Peninsula in 2022 in order to report on the diverse tapestry that is Upper Peninsula life. John resides in Marquette, a few blocks away from his childhood home. He enjoys skiing, riding motorcycles, scuba diving, being outside, and helping for various causes in the community when he isn’t covering the news.
