Mark Baden is an Emmy award-winning journalist working at WISN 12 News as the Chief Meteorologist in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has been working with the network since 1997. Before coming to Milwaukee, Mark held jobs in Columbia, Missouri, Sioux City, Iowa, Des Moines, Iowa, and St. Louis, Missouri. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society.

Baden is an Emmy award-winning journalist working at WISN 12 News as the Chief Meteorologist. Since childhood, he has always loved the weather. Mark is still passionate about the weather because of Wisconsin’s unpredictable climate. Mark is usually in the studio during severe weather, but he loves the opportunity to get up close and personal with Mother Nature. He claims to be the world’s worst storm chaser, despite having been on multiple storms chases throughout the Midwest and Great Plains. He has not yet seen a tornado. Before coming to Milwaukee, Mark held jobs in Columbia, Missouri, Sioux City, Iowa, Des Moines, Iowa, and St. Louis, Missouri.
Mark has been able to report on the weather both locally and nationally. He provided firsthand coverage of the floods that occurred on July 22. He was the first to report that Interstate 43 had been blocked in Glendale owing to four feet of water covering the route. Mark also witnessed a police officer save a pregnant woman and her child from a flooded car. He was present when Hurricanes Frances and Rita hit Cocoa Beach, Florida in 2004 and Beaumont, Texas, in 2005, respectively, and witnessed the devastation firsthand. He has also seen the devastating tornadoes that struck Kansas City, Hartford, and Utica, Illinois.
The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association awarded Mark the best weathercast award in 2009. He has also received multiple weather awards including a local and regional Emmy for his coverage of the 2008 floods. Additionally, Milwaukee Magazine has chosen the WeatherWatch 12 crew as having the most accurate local forecasts. Mark has received the mark of approval from the American Meteorological Society in addition to the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal.
Advocacy
Mark is particularly passionate about helping children. He has presided over COA’s Oscar Night America as the MC for twelve years. He is the host of multiple Children’s Hospital events, such as the Evening of Elegance and the Sugarplum Luncheon. Since 2005, Mark has co-hosted the Neighborhood House Invitational golf tournament with sports director Dan Needles. He also emcees the Neighborhood House Ray Richardson dinner. Mark has also been the honorary skipper of the Milwaukee-anchored schooner Denis Sullivan, owned by Discovery World.
