Eventually, William worked as a local storm spotter, reporting severe weather conditions to the National Weather Service office in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and forecasting weather conditions for Metro Weather Watch for Southwest Indiana, Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky, and the Lower Ohio Valley.
