Brandon is an Emmy award-winning journalist working as a national investigative reporter and the Chief Investigator for Atlanta News First Investigates in Atlanta. He is one of the country’s most renowned investigative journalists. His investigations have won over 125 regional Emmys, a National Emmy, six National Edward R. Murrow Awards, the DuPont-Columbia Silver Baton, and the George Foster Peabody Award. His primary drive is to expose institutional and systemic shortcomings in order to improve and secure our communities as places to call home. Brendan’s stories have resulted in numerous patents, improved the country’s 911 system, established a new public safety organization, altered laws, and imprisoned dishonest politicians.

Brendan began his journalism career in 1991 at WERX-TV, working as an anchor, reporter, and photographer. After that, he moved to Kalamazoo, MI, to work as a reporter at WWMT-TV3. He was then hired as a reporter at WJXT in Jacksonville, Florida. In October 1995, he landed a job as an anchor and reporter at WFSB TV in Hartford, Connecticut. After two years he joined KPRC-TV as a reporter. During his time there, he won four Suncoast Emmys, including two for a documentary he shot on his own while on vacation on the Yucatan Peninsula about underwater cave diving.

In February 2003, he was hired as a weeknight reporter at WCBS-2 in New York City. He spent almost five years there, before moving to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he landed a job as an Evening Anchor and I-Team Chief Investigator at WCPO-TV.  He then joined The E.W. Scripps Company as a senior multi-media journalist. Before joining the Atlanta News First, Brendan was employed as the Chief Investigator at WXIA and the Lead Multi-skilled Journalist Instructor at TEGNA.

As a reporter and anchor, Brendan never really put down the camera while working in places all around the country, including New York City and Houston. Throughout the Iraq War, he was embedded with the US Army. Brendan has also instructed generations of journalists as part of the Poynter Institute’s visiting faculty. As a one-man band now, Brendan works on intricate investigations as his own photographer, producer, and video editor.
