Sweezey began her professional career doing weather anchoring for WSJV-TV in South Bend, Indiana, the USA in 1995. Then, she went to WWMT-TV News Channel 3 in Kalamazoo and served as a broadcast meteorologist for over 7 years. She also served as a broadcast meteorologist for Hearst Television in Winter Park, Florida for about 17 years. Later, she joined Growing Bolder in Orlando and became an on-camera host, writer and speaker where she won a broadcasting award.

Amy also worked as a Keynote speaker self-agent on her platform AmySweezey.com where she stills guides and runs mentoring programs. Then, she became a meteorology educator for Universal Orlando Resort where she is currently holding seminars and youth programs. She was also a freelancer at CNTV where stills undertakes hosting, producing, and reporting roles about video marketing and virtual event management. From there, she got a part-time meteorologist role at the  Orange County Government where she is still working.

Sweezey also served as a freelance broadcasting meteorologist for News 13 Orlando where she is still undertaking her position. Now, she is at Carnival Cruise Line in Miami, Florida, the United States of America as a weather contributor where she has served for over 8 months. She has received numerous awards such as the AP awards and the National weather association  honors.
