He was promoted to Chief Meteorologist in 1985. He joined 24 Hour News 8 as a meteorologist in 2001. In July 2021, he became chief meteorologist emeritus, assuming a new role while continuing to be an essential member of Storm Team 8.
Bill has received multiple broadcast honors in addition to being highly involved in the West Michigan community. He has experience working with the Science Olympiad and the regional Math Counts Competition. He also serves as the honorary chair of the Grand Rapids Planetarium’s fundraising committee. Bill has served as the Red Cross Heroes Campaign chairman. He is also a member of Youth for Christ’s advisory board, the Gerald R. Ford Boy Scout Council’s board of directors, and the marketing committee.
