Early Career
Chi Chi Izundu began her career in 1997 as a columnist for Girl About Town magazine. Her column was called “Single Girl” in which she wrote thoughtful reflections on the life of a single woman living in London. At the time of writing, she was also freelance for Cosmopolitan and landed her first radio job: Broadcasting Assistant at BBC Radio Manchester (Greater Manchester Radio); The radio station is now called BBC Radio Manchester. In April 2001, Izundu became an assistant broadcaster at BBC London 94.
Izundu has appeared on shows such as The Jon Gaunt Show, The Saturday Sports Show, and Vanessa Feltz. In July 2002 she became a radio producer. From 2002 to 2005 Izundu was a freelance journalist for various publishers including Sky News, ITN, and Virgin Radio. she has covered multiple events including crime, entertainment, and showbiz stories. She also freelanced for Sky News and worked for ITN before returning to the BBC as a reporter for BBC Radio 1Xtra.
Chi chi Izundu BBC (2005 – present)
Izundu joined BBC News and debuted in September 2005, while working for BBC Radio 1Xtra, she hosted the two-hour news program TXU and was an entertainment presenter on Trevor Nelson’s breakfast show. in the industry box office, which contributed to Newsbeat’s Gold Sony Award. In 2014, she became one of the presenters of BBC Three’s 60 Second Newscast, which broadcasts the news on BBC Three every night. She then appeared as a reporter on the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire program. As well as revealing the history of the controversial Police Risk Assessment Form 696, Chi uncovered the link between grime music and gang violence in the UK when Robbie Williams executives charged fans higher prices for tickets on resale sites despite the historic signing of a public notice against them. Chi has also worked for the BBC Newsgathering team and has appeared as a correspondent on various stories for their flagship news programs The Six and The 10 PM News, including a trip to Jamaica to cover the Windrush scandal, such as Xanax used by children as young as 11, and Mercury Prize winner.
