Ward also worked as the 47 On Your Side Reporter at KJEO-TV in Fresno and at stations in Lansing, Michigan, and Palm Springs.

Ward was honored with a 2011 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Investigative Reporting. He also won the 2010 RTNA Golden Mike Award for Best Investigative Reporting (Div. B) and received a 2010 Emmy nomination for Journalistic Enterprise. Ward is a 4-time Emmy Award recipient and a 9-time AP Award winner.

He also donates his time to many local causes. The Santa Barbara Arthritis Foundation honored Ward with the 2010 Mary G. Kendall Award for his many years of service.

In 2018, Westmont College awarded Ward and the entire news team with its highest honor, the Westmont Medal, ‘for brave, courageous, cutting-edge and inspiring news reporting’ during the Thomas Fire and the Montecito mudslides.
