LewAllen works for WXYZ as a news anchor at  6,7 and 11 p.m. and at 10 p.m. on TV20 Detroit. First, he joined in 1988 but he was serving the station as a sports reporter. Later he permanently switched to serving as a news anchor in 2004. He has been working for the station for 34 years, 7 months, and counting as of 2022. Before joining WXYZ-TV, he worked for WJBK-TV, Southfield as a sports anchor and reporter for 4 years and a month since joining in 1984. Also, he worked for WJIM-TV which is now known as WLNS-TV, Lansing. In 1983, he joined CKLW-AM, Windsor where he served as sports director for the station for 2 years.

Also, for 2 years since 1981, he served WJR-AM 760, Detroit as a sports reporter and anchor. On top of this, he also served the University of Detroit basketball as the radio play-by-play voice for various seasons. Also, he is a 4 time Emmy winner. In 2007, he received an Emmy award for “Best Weekend Newscast” alongside co-anchor Glenda Lewis and producer Tim Kochenderfer. Also, he got an Emmy for his program “March Madness” which provides an inside perspective on the Michigan State high school basketball championship, and the “Breaking News” on Channel 7 for his live stream of the fires in Highland Park.

His most recent Emmy is for his live broadcast of the “Detroit Firestorm” of 2010. In addition to that, he was acclaimed to be a Silver Circle receiver from NATAS Michigan for his achievements and service in the broadcasting industry for over 25 years in 2012. Also, he came up with and presented “Golf Michigan” which is a program that salutes the golf industry in Michigan and it was on air on WXYZ-TV for four years. Not only has he hosted much news but also sports specials like Rochester Hometown Christmas Parade and  Woodward Dream Cruise etc. Also, he has provided coverage for NHL, three super bowls, the world series, etc., and major golf championships like Ryder Cup matches, Masters, etc.

Also, he is a member of the Board of Directors for Rainbow Connection and for two years handled the president seat of the board of the non-profit. He was also the former president of the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association. On top of that, for more than 10 years he was the head of a charity golf outing for the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan. Also, he partakes in charities such as St. Patrick Senior Center in Detroit, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul just to list a few. He also used to play football for the Chippewas as a walk-on when he was a sophomore. Last but not least he enjoys hobbies like baseball card collection, reading, fishing, and politics.
