David is a very accomplished journalist who has received two renowned Edward R. Murrow Awards in addition to eleven distinguished Emmy Awards. He received honors in the 2018 Ruby by the Great Lakes Bay Region which was for the best professionals under the age of 40. Over 15,000 local readers of “MyCity Magazine” have chosen him as Mid-Michigan’s BEST News Anchor for the past six years. Additionally, Great Lakes Bay Magazine declared him as the region’s “Greatest News Anchor” in 2019 and 2020.
The most recent award David received from the Associated Press and Michigan Association of Broadcasters, given in 2020, was for Best Reporter/Anchor. The multiple community-based organizations hailed him as a role model and hence honoring him for his commitment to ensuring others are uplifted has made him very grateful. Great Lakes Pride presented him with the “Champion of Pride” title in 2015.
David is a happy University of Michigan-Flint alum. He served as one of the orientation leaders and worked for the university newspaper, the M-Times, as an undergraduate. David started his television assignments as a news anchor in Alpena, Michigan in 2002. One and only news station on the “Sunrise Side” was WBKB. He then relocated to Flint. Thereafter, he managed to relocate to Flint serving as a reporter and producer for a rival station. However, the station united with WNEM-TV5, although he had already managed to ascend to the position of weekend anchor. Fortunately, he agreed to stay and take over as WNEM-TV5’s weekend morning anchor untilĀ 2007. Thereafter, David moved to Toledo and worked as the lead anchor for the NBC affiliate.
