He is excited to be back in his home state of Grand Ledge and cover topics that are important to Michiganders. David went to Valparaiso University in Indiana, where he spent three seasons playing football as an offensive and defensive lineman. During his free time there, he actively participated in WVUR-FM, the student-run radio station, and VUTV, the student-run television station.
In 2016, David worked as an intern at the Lansing Nexstar affiliate WLNS-TV, covering amateur golf competitions, high school sports in the area, and a variety of collegiate and professional teams. After graduating, David was hired at WVNS-TV, the Nexstar affiliate in Ghent, West Virginia. After covering a widely shared video of a coal worker singing the national anthem during a regular safety meeting, he was awarded an Associated Press award in his first year of reporting at the network. During his four years there, David worked his way up to become a morning and noon news anchor for the WVNS newscasts.
When it comes to his passion for local food, craft beer, weightlifting, and sports teams—particularly Michigan State, Valparaiso, and all of Detroit’s professional teams—David is not afraid to show it. As a self-proclaimed music enthusiast, he enjoys singing, playing the piano, and discovering new and classic music across all genres.
