Pofahl is an award-winning journalist working at WISN 12 News as a reporter based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She began her broadcasting career as a photojournalist for The Minnesota Daily, the student newspaper at the University of Minnesota. She was there, reporting on the community’s demands for justice during the height of the George Floyd demonstrations in Minneapolis. Emily worked as a freelancer for the Sahan Journal during the COVID-19 pandemic. She composed detailed obituaries for immigrants from Minnesota who passed away from COVID-19.
After graduating, Emily was hired at KAAL-TV in Rochester, Minnesota, as a reporter and fill-in anchor covering Northern Iowa and Southeastern Minnesota. There, she covered a wide range of topics, including the state capitol actions of local MPs and the significant backlog in the criminal court system in the area. Her station received a regional Emmy nomination for their coverage of a terrible tornado that struck the little hamlet of Hartland that evening thanks in part to her reporting.
Additionally, one month after the Robb Elementary massacre, Emily reported live for a week on a story about a Minnesota family that traveled to Texas to assist in the recovery of their children. Our focus was on their experience. She is excited to be in Milwaukee and plans to take advantage of all that Wisconsin has to offer in her free time.
