Evan began his broadcasting career at WMBF News, serving as a reporter and fill-in anchor for two years and one month. After that, he moved to WKMG-TV as a reporter in Orlando, Florida. During his tenure, he covered breaking news and stories for Local 6’s evening newscasts while on the ground and in the newsroom. Additionally, he prepared engaging and visually appealing live reports to increase the impact of news on viewers.
In June 2015, Evan was hired as a reporter by the Fox Television Stations in St. Petersburg, Florida. He worked at the station for two years before moving to FOX 5 in Washington D.C., in 2017. As the lead nighttime reporter for FOX 5, he broke exclusive and unique news along with pitching stories, managing small teams, and overseeing projects. Evan also fostered strategic relationships between the federal government and local governments to create engaging stories. He was also nominated for an Emmy while working at the station in 2019.

In 2023, Lambert a NewsNation correspondent was arrested after he started reporting live during a news conference which was held by Ohio authorities on a train derailment. The incident where police reported of a confrontation between him and a National Guard official. This was after Evan was told to stop speaking during the governor’s remarks. Therefore, Law enforcement officers had to interrupt Lambert as he broadcasted from the event. The authorities announced lifting a multiday evacuation order on site of a fiery weekend derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.
Two highway patrol troopers and also Ohio National Guard’s adjutant general, Maj. Gen. John Harris, requested Lambert to stop his live reporting as it was loud and disruptive. “This is what it’s like to be a Black reporter in 2023,” Evan Lambert said after being arrested for allegedly speaking too loudly at a press conference
