Josh Haskell Pacific Palisades
Pacific Palisades is Josh Haskell’s hometown on ABC7. Despite having 25,000 residents, it has a distinct small-town atmosphere. Hiking one of the numerous hiking trails above the town is the best way to get away from the city’s congestion. The trail that begins at the top of Bienvenda Avenue and is part of Topanga State Park is the Haskell family’s all-time favorite.
It is still hiked by Josh’s father a few times per week. Even though the gym is great and the workout classes are fun, why pay to work out when you can hike for free? Josh stated Josh was just one year old when the Haskells moved to the Palisades, and they have not left since. Despite the fact that Josh left Palisades Elementary 22 years ago, some of his teachers are still there.
Nothing has altered. A former educator stated, “It’s still the great place it always has been.” The Pali Elementary graduating class would paint a mural on campus each year. The artist was taught by Josh’s aunt. His brother’s mural is still there, but he is long gone. Another significant aspect of Josh’s childhood life was Theatre Palisades Kids. Over 50 children participated in Paula LaBrot’s annual productions, which were assisted by parents like Josh’s mother, a producer.
Each show sold out because members made the costumes and set themselves. You came in four parts. Everyone put their heart and soul into it, and you were always a very hard worker,” LaBrot said. And what town is complete without a thriving newspaper? Josh’s interest in journalism was sparked by the Palisadian-Post, which has been the community’s center since 1928.
From 1993 to 2013, the managing editor was Bill Bruns. “Well, what kind of news would there be in this little town?” people asked. However, we had significant issues with the city. Bruns stated, “We fought to prevent the building behind us from being demolished and turned into a mini-mall.”
Things have changed, just like in every city. For instance, a brand-new shopping center known as Palisades Village will open in the coming month. However, the community’s core has remained unchanged, as evidenced by the July 4 celebration, which includes a morning race, a parade, and, of course, fireworks. Josh stated that he is proud to call this small town in a larger city his home.
