BBC (1995-1998)

Derham began her broadcasting career with the BBC as a researcher on Radio 4’s Money Box. In 1995 she won the Bradford & Bingley ‘Best Personal Finance Broadcaster Award’ for her work as presenter on Radio 5 Live’s Moneycheck. In 1996 she joined BBC television as a consumer affairs correspondent and was also a reporter for the long-running film program.
ITN (1998-2010)
Joining ITN in 1998 as Media and Arts Editor for ITV News, at the age of 27 she became the youngest national TV presenter in the UK since ITN was founded in 1955. In 2004 Derham became the lead presenter of ITV Lunchtime News and assistant presenter for ITV Evening News and ITV News at ten. She also co hosted ITV London’s London Tonight news program. Derham hosted his last ITV News show on 25 June 2010.

BBC (since 2010)

In April 2010 it was announced that Derham would be returning to the BBC. Derham covers the arts, including prom coverage for BBC Two, BBC Four and BBC Radio 3. Derham is the presenter of Afternoon on 3 and Breakfast on Radio 3 and previously presented the Hall of Fame concert on Classic FM. In 2008 he presented the Traveller’s Tree series on Radio 4. Derham also appears as a guest presenter on Saturday Live

In August 2015, the BBC announced that Derham would be appearing in the thirteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing. His partner was Anton Du Beke. In Week 4, the couple topped the charts. In weeks 9 and 11 they showed their best dances and both scored 35 out of a possible 40 points. During the semifinals, they placed last in both dances and were in a dance with Anita Rani and Gleb Savchenko; The judges eliminated them to advance to the finals (Anton had done it first time), where they placed fourth. In 2017 she returned for the Christmas special and teamed up with Brendan Cole – the duo won the event. August 2016, Derham presented The Girl from Ipanema, a documentary for BBC Four. In September 2017 he presented coverage of Last Night of the Proms on BBC Two and BBC One. Derham has been the presenter of In Tune on BBC Radio 3 since 2017.

Another work

Derham hosted the Classical BRIT Awards four times between 2001 and 2004. In August 2008 she appeared on BBC Two’s Maestro where she learned to conduct orchestral, choral and operatic music; and in 2010 on the background entertainment show First Love, where he has returned to playing the violin since he was a teenager. In 2015, Derham partnered with BAFTA-nominated producer Jane Gerber to create Peanut & Crumb, a Brighton-based multi-platform studio producing branded content, podcasts and TV programming.
