He debuted on The Donlon Report and NewsNation Prime for NewsNation on May 17, 2021. On July 8, 2021, Nexstar said that Vittert would be the host of a primetime program on NewsNation called On Balance with Leland Vittert, which premiered on July 19, 2021.

He started his broadcasting career as a weekend news anchor for Denver, Colorado’s KDVR-TV. After that, he was employed by Orlando, Florida’s WFTV-TV as a reporter. Additionally, he worked at WMTV-TV in Madison, Wisconsin, KNWA-TV in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and KATV-TV in Little Rock, Arkansas. Vittert started following the Arab Spring as soon as he arrived in the Middle East in 2010. The next day, during an interview on Cavuto Live, Vittert claimed that a protester had attacked him and his team because they were Fox News employees. In January 2021, Vittert made his final appearance on Fox News, after which he joined NewsNation in New York City in 2021.
