Carter had always known she wanted to work in journalism, but it wasn’t until she interned at WSB-TV in Atlanta that she fully discovered her passion for the craft. Margaret accepted a weekend reporting position with WJBF in Augusta, Georgia, just out of college. She reported on a range of stories centered on the Aiken, South Carolina, region during her two years there. Thereafter, Carter started to serve as a fill-in on the anchor desk. Luckily she progressed to reporting from Monday through Friday. She was prepared to assume a more significant leadership position as an anchor following her two years in Augusta. Even though Margaret had never been to Jackson, Mississippi, she knew it was a time when WJTV offered her the role of weekend morning anchor.
Margaret arrived in the hospitality state without knowing a single person, and the locals lived up to their reputation. She managed to establish a home away from home by discovering her own Mississippi family between the years 2016 and 2019. She was upgraded to the 4 PM anchor position Monday through Friday after less than two years of anchoring on the weekends. However, she had to return home despite the fact that she liked the Magnolia state and the lifetime connections she established there. Being able to share the tales and working in her home state had her giddy with excitement. She was eager to help this community and earn their trust as their go-to authority on news.
