Matt is an American journalist working as a Digital reporter at WOOD TV8 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He began working as a news producer at WOOD TV8 in 2017, leading Daybreak and The Seven. Matt has contributed to a number of significant WOOD TV8 projects, such as our coverage of the Fifth Third River Bank Run and the 2020 Auto Show Special. He also assisted with our coverage of a number of breaking news stories, such as the riots in Grand Rapids.
He began his broadcasting career as an Operations Technician at WXMI Fox 17 in Grand Rapids, MI. During his time there, he oversaw floor operations and controlled cameras for Fox 17 Morning News. He also collaborated with the production team and staff to make sure the show ran as smoothly as possible.
In December 2020, Matt was hired at MLive Media Group as a Print Content Curator. He was in charge of choosing the content that would be included in the print product. In addition, he was in charge of designing, editing, and proofreading the pages and making sure they were all finished and delivered on schedule for the edition he had chosen. In April of 2014, he assumed leadership of MLive’s four digital editions, managing the news and sports departments to assemble a cohesive package that provided its viewers with an e-edition on days when its east-side markets did not print one.
Before joining WOOD TV8, Matt spent two years at Media General as the Sr. National Multimedia Content Producer. His responsibility on the MG National Content Team was to serve the company’s 71 stations by creating and promoting quality broadcast and digital content.
