Matt Teale Career
Teale worked at ITV in the Midlands from 1997 to 2022 before becoming one of the two main presenters on ITV News Meridian in 2022. He also freelances for the British Forces Broadcasting Service and Sky News. After studying broadcast journalism at Nottingham Trent University, Teale began his career at ITV East Midlands news service before working in the regional programming department as a researcher, producer, director, and series producer for various regional and television networks.
Matt joined Central Independent Television’s sports team in 2005 as a reporter from Birmingham, where he covered sports news for Central Tonight with Sarah Jane Mee. Teale last covered sports for Central Tonight in 2007 before becoming an anchor for Setanta Sports News, which was formed by ITN. He hosted weekdays from 5 pm to 9 pm with Rachel Brookes until the station ceased airing in June 2009. He also presented the first season of Indian Premier League cricket coverage for Setanta Sports, as well as boxing, cricket, and mixed martial arts specialty programming.
In August 2009, it was announced that Teale would replace veteran presenter Alastair Stewart as co-host of London Tonight alongside Katie Derham and Nina Hossain. He debuted as an assistant host on August 25, 2009, and as a main co-host from September 7, 2009. Since September 2009, Teale has presented occasional morning and midday bulletins from ITV News and the weekend editions of ITV News London. Since June 2010 he has been the sports anchor for Sky News. On 2 February 2012, he joined ITV News Central co-presenting with Sameena Ali-Khan.
