Afterward, he co-anchored WISN’s “12 News This Morning” for 12 years before going back to work the night shift in 2015. This time on the anchor desk. His career in journalism has carried him all over the nation, covering big stories live, such as the Space Shuttle Columbia accident, Pope Francis’s visit to Congress, and Wisconsin U.S. Representative Paul Ryan’s election to the House Speakership.
In 2021, Patrick covered the Milwaukee Bucks’ NBA championship run from Phoenix, and in 2016 he traveled to Cleveland to cover the Republican National Convention. In 2019, Patrick contributed to the production team of the Emmy-nominated documentary “Honor Flight 50: A Mission of Thanks”. Patrick took the 50th Stars and Stripes Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., along with three coworkers from WISN 12. The group shot pictures of the free one-day visit to the memorials erected in memory of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam veterans.
Next, with the help of the team, Patrick scripted and hosted an hour-long television special. To raise money to send more veterans on Stars and Stripes Honor Flights, WISN 12 organized a phone bank fundraiser in addition to the documentary. The endeavor raised about $60,000 to sponsor a full plane and transport almost 90 veterans on a future honor flight trip, thanks to the kind donations of WISN 12 viewers.
Before joining WISN 12 News, Patrick was employed as a news anchor, reporter, and photojournalist at Columbia, South Carolina’s WOLO-TV. Numerous organizations have acknowledged his reporting, such as the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association (WBA) and The Associated Press. He has also contributed to coverage that has won regional Edward R. Murrow and Chicago/Midwest Emmy awards. Patrick enjoys spending his free time with his wife and children. Along with traveling, he likes to do pretty much anything outside, even skiing.
