When the director of 23ABC noticed Robin on television, she was employed in Ventura County. She was requested to provide a video clip by the director. Mangarin became the first all-female anchor team in Kern County and was the first Filipina woman to work in local news in California.
She made stops in China and the Philippines while reporting for 23ABC while she was traveling the globe. At KGET-TV, Mangarin has also served as a health correspondent. She was given the Community Service Award by the Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2015.
For her efforts in introducing people to Dignity Health services and doctors, Robin also received national recognition from HealthGrades with the Innovation Award. Riley and Jack Scott are the two sons of Jim and Robin Scott. But on June 15, 2011, Robin Mangarin resigned from KGET and declared her intention to work in the nonprofit sector. For more than 14 years, Mangarin has co-anchored the nightly newscasts on KGET with her husband, Jim Scott.
