After that, he was hired as a weather forecaster at the ABC affiliate in Sioux City, Lowa. He spent twelve years there, five of which he held the Chief Meteorologist position. Throughout his time in Siouxland, Scott reported on multiple blizzards, derechos, and extreme weather occurrences affecting northwest Iowa, northeast Nebraska, and southeast South Dakota.

Additionally, Scott played a crucial role in an Emmy-winning newscast that covered a bomb cyclone that caused historic floods in March 2019.
