As a result, she created “Val’s Kids” a special program that tells the tales of kids looking for adoptive homes through the Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network. “Val’s Kids” airs on abc27 News on Wednesdays at 7 p.m., and Sundays at 6 p.m.
Additionally, Valerie’s production and reporting of Operation Safe Kids, a program encouraging the installation of smoke alarms and fire safety, won ABC 27 a Service to Community award from The National Association of Broadcasters. This award is one of the greatest distinctions a broadcast television station can receive.
Valerie is an ardent volunteer in the community and serves as a board member for the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, United Way of the Capital Region, and the Salvation Army Advisory Board. Valerie also works with many charity organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Harrisburg Symphony, Harrisburg Police Athletic League, and Susquehanna Service Dogs, where she raises puppies.
