Dan Tomaso Career
Tomaso is an American Meteorologist currently working at ABC 27 News based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Dan was drawn to pursue a career in meteorology by Hurricane Danny in 1997 because of its name. Being from Harrisburg, he enjoyed watching the local weather and gathered as much knowledge as he could from the Storm Track Team’s evening newscasts on ABC27. Dan started sharing his meteorological expertise on the “Royal News Network,” a closed-circuit television channel, while he was in the seventh and eighth grades at Saint Catherine Laboure School. Dan was further motivated to pursue meteorology by Chuck Rhodes, a guest co-anchor on a special program on this channel in 2003.
In August 2009, Dan accepted an offer from ABC27 to work as a part-time meteorologist, and he has been employed there ever since. During his time at college, he worked at ABC27 mostly on the weekends and during school breaks. In the spring of 2011, he was admitted to this program. He collaborated with Dr. Najjar on the study for his thesis, “Seasonal and Interannual Variability of the Upper Delaware Estuary Dissolved Oxygen and Dissolved Inorganic Carbon Budgets.” This work has been included in an article that has been published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Bio geosciences.
