Ally has received recognition for her journalistic abilities. She received the Student Broadcaster of the Year Award from the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters in 2022. For the past two years, she has consistently ranked in the top 20 for the national Hearst Journalism Awards in TV Features. Additionally, Ally has been nominated for and won regional prizes from the Suncoast Student Production prizes and the Society of Professional Journalists.
Despite being honored to receive the honors, Ally’s top goal is to use her stories to change her neighborhood. She was able to contribute to a national influence during her summer internship with NBC’s TODAY Show in 2021. In her final semester at LSU, she worked as a reporter for WBRZ Channel 2 in Baton Rouge. She worked for the journalism school’s Statehouse Bureau, worked for LSU’s news station, and took 15 hours of coursework while working as a news apprentice and multimedia journalist part-time.
Ally is well-known for her distinctive and powerful storytelling. She earned statewide notice for her broadcast story concerning the impact of COVID-19 on local economies and the persistence of segregated graves in Louisiana. Ally has covered a wide range of topics, including the housing market, inflation, the performing arts, industries, storms, laws, shortages, tragedies, and more.
While Ally is new to Waco, Waco is not new to Ally. She grew up going to see relatives in Waco and West, Texas, and she has many happy memories of her visits, such as going to “Westfest” and enjoying kolaches from the Czech Stop. She feels more at home reporting in Waco.
