In October 2012, Candice was extremely thrilled to win Highland Community College’s coveted “Distinguished Alumni Award.” Additionally, she has received two Emmy nominations and one Illinois Broadcasters Association Silver Dome Award nomination. Candice is passionate about educating viewers about the weather in addition to forecasting it. She likes to interact with the community, whether it be at luncheon meetings, school speeches, or just chatting about the weather at the county fair.

For Candice, the Rochelle/Fairdale tornado on April 9, 2015, stands out as a very memorable meteorological event. A catastrophic EF 4 tornado passed through Rochelle that day, almost erasing the tiny community of Fairdale from the map. In the months that followed, as cleanup for those villages and farmsteads proceeded, Candice understood the need to ensure that every residence in the town of Fairdale had a functional weather radio.

Later that spring, she bought hundreds of First Alert NOAA weather radios to give to the people of Fairdale, working with the DeKalb County Long Term Recovery Team. She took great pride in this outreach and continues to do so today. Additionally, Candice successfully certified Eyewitness News as a National Weather Service Storm Ready Supporter. In addition to ensuring the safety of viewers, she also takes delight in ensuring that station employees are aware of what to do and where to go in the event of severe weather.
