Owen grew up watching the Weather Channel during periods of extreme weather and snowfall because it piqued his interest. When he watched the 2015 tornado in Rochelle-Fairdale, Illinois, he knew he wanted to study meteorology.
Outside of his work as a professional weatherman, Owen spends his free time storm chasing around the Midwest and forecasting severe and winter weather occurrences nationwide. When there is a potential to see the Northern Lights in the area, Owen will make sure to set up his camera in an open cornfield. He doesn’t just follow storms. In addition to being a huge sports enthusiast with the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Blackhawks as his top teams, Owen likes to take pictures, play baseball, and bowl when the weather permits.
