She also developed and wrote segments, booked on-air guests for live interviews, and engaged with viewers on social media before, during, and after newscasts. Previously, she was tenured as the network’s News Reporter/ Fill-In Anchor since September 2017 in Charlotte, North Carolina Area for almost six years. She was nominated for the 2018 Midsouth Emmy Awards Hickory for the Tornado live coverage morning newscast.
Hicks was also selected as a special projects reporter for in-depth storytelling during the coronavirus and Black Lives Matter 2020 protests, promoted from morning reporter to dayside reporter. For the network, she also covered live in up to five newscasts daily, served as a fill-in anchor for morning and evening weekday shows, and engaged with audiences via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to provide breaking details and drive viewers to newscasts and websites. She also wrote compelling web stories to support daily video content. Previously, she was tenured at KETK in August 2015 in Tyler Texas Area as a reporter/fill-in anchor.
There she started her weekly investigative segment, where she uncovered a ring of illegal gambling practices in the area. Before joining the network, she served as a research assistant at Chicago Magazine for four months since May 2015. She was also tenured at SMU-TV as a campus confidential host/producer in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area since August 2014 for 10 months and also served as a crew member. Hicks also tenured as a Visual Merchandising/ C3 Intern at Black Book Ink in January 2015 in Dallas, Texas.
