George is currently an evening anchor at KSNT 27 News. He is originally from Texan and has broadcasting experience of four decades having worked in Texas, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Alaska before landing in Kansas. He switched from broadcast meteorologist to news anchor in June of 2020.
David started his career at KWTX-TV in Waco, Texas in 1983 while still in his senior year at Baylor University. Thereafter his graduation with a degree, he took another 4 years before making a stop at KOTV-TV in Tulsa, Okla. His period at Tulsa allowed David to research with meteorologists from the University of Oklahoma. Also, he completed Doppler training at the National Severe Storms Laboratory.
George joined the KVIA-TV team in El Paso, Texas, in 1990 where he also took graduate-level coursework in atmospheric sciences. Later, after several hot and dusty years in Far West Texas, he joined KSTP-TV in Minneapolis where he accessed forecasting tools and equipment of that period. He forecasted life-threatening weather all spring and summer and was also exposed to bitter air masses. Additionally, David forecasted on significant snow, ice and blizzards.
David went to WMTV-TV in Madison, Wisc., to become a chief meteorologist in the late ‘90s and served there for 15 years. In addition, he participated in communities across Southern Wisconsin through public speaking, community events, school lectures and non-profit work.
David completed all math and science-based curriculum for meteorology, passed a rigorous written exam, and his work was reviewed to assess technical competence, informational value, explanatory value, and skill at communication. Therefore, he is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist. David enjoys exploring new places and doing family activities, as well as playing golf occasionally when off duty. He also loves doing a home renovations and taking a nap…whenever possible.
