Bratten comes from the city of Loveland, Colorado. However, she’s neither a stranger to the Central Coast nor KION. Erika has lived in the area and worked at the station since 2014. She has a B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in film and journalism from Western “State” Colorado University.
Bratten was always curious about natural disasters and emergencies. This sparked her interest in journalism. In high school, she was actively involved in a television broadcasting class, which led to her excelling in her career. In 2012, she started her broadcasting journey in Grand Junction, Colorado.
While still young, Erika has had excitement and passion for the weather. It was part of growing up in Northern Colorado, witnessing supercell thunderstorms in the summer and blizzards in the winter. In 2009, she was lucky to work with her favorite Denver meteorologist and his team as a weather intern. She later returned to school to complete her broadcast operational meteorology certificate from Mississippi State University.
While free, Erika stays active with anything related to the great outdoors. She loves traveling, exploring new places, and visiting National Parks. She also enjoys storm chasing with her meteorologist husband. At home, she spends time with her dog and gets busy with different arts and crafts. She also likes sports and is a Broncos fan. above all, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Moreso, she likes meeting and talking to new people.
