Gordon began his career in Waco, TX as a general assignment reporter and weekend weatherman. He also spent a number of years as the head of a consumer affairs division. Later that year, he relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, after a news director in that city became interested in his coverage of the 1993 Branch Davidian standoff.
In 1996, Gordon gladly went back to Texas, his home state, after accepting the primary anchor position at KWTX. Gordon has covered many high-profile stories over the years, such as the Luby’s Massacre, Hurricane Andrew, the Branch Davidian Standoff, the Oklahoma City bombing, the Jarrell Tornado, the Fort Hood shooting, the trial of Nidal Hassan, the Crisis on the Border, and the Iraq War. Additionally, he was nominated for an Emmy and won multiple other honors for his battle zone reporting.
Gordon loves to spend his free time outdoors with his kids and his wife, Bonnie. He also enjoys hiking, camping, kayaking, fishing, hunting, and mountain biking. In addition, Gordon is a skilled musician. His group, “The Gordon Collier Band,” is popular at dance halls and festivals throughout the area and has earned multiple “Groovy Awards” from the Music Association of Central Texas.
