Lauren is an American journalist working at KWTX News 10 as an evening news anchor based in Waco, Texas. She anchors the 4, 6, and 10 p.m. newscasts. Lauren began her journalism career as a reporter at KWTX in Central Texas. During her time at KWTX, she covered historic flooding, the 2009 Fort Hood shooting that left 13 people dead. She also covered the annual Food for Families drive, which she still holds in high regard.
Lauren took a morning anchor job at WAFB in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 2011, and she soon started anchoring the noon show there. Her teams won Associated Press first-place accolades, Louisiana Association of Broadcasters distinctions, and Emmy nominations. Additionally, Lauren co-anchored the Edward R. Murrow Award-winning coverage of a fatal police shooting in 2016 for WAFB.
After a month, Baton Rouge experienced unheard-of floods that wrecked thousands of houses and businesses and claimed lives. As floodwaters subsided over several days, Lauren spent hours at a time at the anchor desk. To help those whose livelihoods were devastated, Louisiana residents Randy Jackson and Harry Connick, Jr. decided to co-host a nationally televised performance with Lauren in response to the tragedy.
Lauren comes back to Waco to work with friends she made early in her career to lead evening shows. She is honored to serve Central Texas once more in a role that allows her to be nearer to her family. In addition, Lauren loves sports and says she is honored to have covered the LSU Tigers’ victory in the National Championship in New Orleans. She was also one of the co-hosts of the statewide victory march in Baton Rouge. Lauren was named the first Young Professional of the Year by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters in early 2020.
Additionally, Lauren helps raise thousands of dollars for children in need and is passionate about her work with the Boys and Girls Club. She also actively supported a number of animal rescue organizations and held many events for nonprofits. Lauren’s interests in her free time include volunteering, socializing, exercising, being outside, and doing anything with animals and heights. On exceptional events, she has been known to skydive and cliff leap!
