Bienvenu has been working as the sports director at Denver7 since 2001. In Denver, Lionel took home the 2019 Emmy Award for “Best Sports Anchor.” He also won an Emmy for “Best Sports Anchor” in 2011 and 2014, as well as one in 2006 for his adventure show “Lionel’s World.” In addition, the Colorado Broadcasters Association awarded Lionel the title of “Best Sportscast” in 2011 and 2012.

Westword Magazine named him “Best TV Sportscaster” in 2014. In 1985, he worked as a sports anchor and reporter in Lafayette, Louisiana, covering the USL’s Ragin’ Cajuns. Shortly thereafter, he moved to WVUE-TV Fox-8 in New Orleans, where, from 1989 to 1993, he co-hosted the “Jim Mora Show” with the Saints’ head coach. In 1995, the New Orleans Press Club honored him with awards for “Best Host” and “Best Sportscaster.”

In 1997, Lionel moved to Los Angeles to work as an anchor for Fox Sports Network. He was the host of the national highlight show “The National Sports Report,” which evolved into an hour-long national program. He also hosted Fox’s “Baseball Today” and Fox Sports World’s “The English Premier League Soccer Show” from 1998 to 2000. The United States, Europe, and Central and South America all saw the show.

Six different soccer teams in the United States took their names from the show because it was so popular. Lionel covered the Super Bowl in 1997, the MLB All-Star game in 1997, and the Yankees-Mets “Subway Series” in 2000. In June 2000, he also hosted “This Week in Sports” on DirectTV and Fox Sports Radio in Los Angeles. In 2001, he hosted the Fox Sports Regional Sports Reports for the Rocky Mountain region and Los Angeles.

In 2001, Lionel became Sports Director at Denver7 and hosted “Monday Night Live” alongside Broncos receiver Ed McCaffrey. In 2012 and 2013, Lionel also hosted “The John Fox Show” and “Mile High Living.” Lionel left Sports in 2014 to return to News, where he hosted “The Now” at 4 p.m. and the Denver7 morning show.

Covering “Rocktober” and the Rockies’ “Run to the World Series” in 2007, as well as the Broncos’ signing of Peyton Manning in 2012 and their run to the Super Bowl in 2013 and 2015, have been the most memorable moments thus far. Additionally, Tebow-Mania in 2011 was incredible!
