Prior to WLS, he served in Chicago at NBC 5 where he served as an early afternoon anchor and a late evening news reporter. Further, he has gained various Emmy awards. For example, he secured an Emmy for breaking news broadcasts of a destructive tornado in the region.
Moreover, he served in Naplate, Illinois as a reporter succeeding a tornado outbreak that destroyed the small town. Additionally, he served as a co-host on an Emmy award-winning coverage of the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival parade alongside Cheryl Burton, Janet Davies, and Judy Hsu. The coverage was nationally syndicated and aired in most of the top markets nationwide.
Throughout his career, he has secured an Associated Press and Peter Lisagor Awards for his live breaking news broadcast of protests in Chicago in 2014. Else, he received an Emmy award for serving as a co-host on multiple specials counting a Winter Olympic special, “Hometown Hopeful,” featuring Chicago Olympians. To boot, he has broadcasted two Olympics, the 2006 Winter Games in Torino, Italy, and the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Furthermore, he traveled to Washington, D.C. for the State of the Union, and broadcasted breaking news in California and Texas for ABC 7. However, his most unforgettable assignment is when he covered the historic World Series victory by the Chicago Cubs thus joining Mark Giangreco and Jim Rose in Cleveland for breaking news broadcasting of Game 7 of the 2016 World Series.
Prior to rejoining Chicago in 2002, he served KVIA-TV; ABC 7 in El Paso, Texas since 1998 as a weekend anchor. Later, from 2000 to 2002 he served as a co-anchor of the morning show. Nonetheless, his broadcasting career debuted when he served off-camera in Champaign-Urbana at WICD-TV as a photographer. Furthermore, he is a member of NAHJ, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
