Ellis works for WBBM as a weekend evening meteorologist for CBS2 Chicago. He joined the CBS 2 Chicago team in July 2017. Further, he has served the station for more than half a decade. Nonetheless, he debuted his TV career when he served in Greensboro, North Carolina at WFMY. During his stint there, he served the station as a weekend meteorologist.
Since then, he went on to serve WECT in Wilmington, North Carolina from 2009 to 2013 as the lead meteorologist. Additionally, he served WISH-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana as the weekday evening meteorologist from 2013 to 2016. While there, he provided coverage for snow storms and tornado outbreaks. In 2016, he went to Columbia and served WIS as the chief meteorologist.
Prior to Chicago, he served as a freelance meteorologist. Furthermore, he initially served as a climate scientist and programmer for the climate offices in North and South Carolina prior to his broadcasting career.
