Majumder is an Indian correspondent in the BBC’s South Asia Bureau, who has been involved in various activities including Newsgathering, television and radio broadcasting, and leading editorial decisions. Sanjoy has been part of special programming, mentoring, and training young journalists as well.

Sanjoy has been a pioneer in the use of Digital Media and setting up the BBC news website’s South Asia page (1999). In addition, he was among the pioneer in the BBC’s India page as the BBC news website’s India Editor (2002-2005). Therefore, Sanjoy has been developing text and video content across multiple digital platforms. He has also reported for Radio New Zealand, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and National Public Radio, USA.

Majumder was lucky to have been appointed the Deputy Managing Editor for BBC World Service in India in January 2018. Here, he managed a team of 300 and oversaw the BBC’s historic and massive expansion in the Indian media market. There was a launch of four new digital and television language services alongside existing services in English, Hindi, and Tamil.

Further, Sanjoy was given temporary charge as Deputy Head of Asia in May 2022. Therefore, his duty was to look after BBC World Service operations in Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
