Scott is an American journalist working as a Sports Director at WTVO/WQRF Fox 39 in Rockford, Illinois. He was born in Ohio but has lived in Rockford since joining WTVO in 1989. He was elevated to Sports Director in 1995. Scott serves as the anchor for WTVO (ABC) sports on the nightly news at 5:00, 6:00, and 10:00 p.m. Additionally, he anchors WQRF Fox 39 Sports at 9:00 p.m. Scott has covered a variety of events, such as the NBA playoffs, the NBA All-Star Game, the World Series, the Super Bowl, the Indianapolis 500, the Stanley Cup Finals, the Orange Bowl, the Heisman Trophy presentation in New York, the Masters, and the U.S. Open Golf Tournament. He has also arm-wrestled Hulk Hogan.
Scott has been the anchor of Bear Blitz, a weekly television program on the Chicago Bears. Additionally, Scott has reported from the sidelines of State Championship football games that are shown across Illinois for the IHSA Television Network. He has provided play-by-play analysis of basketball games in the Girls State Tournament on the IHSA TV Network. As the studio presenter of the Hockey Night in Rockford telecasts of the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs games, Scott has also done play-by-play for Northern Illinois University basketball and Rock River Raptors indoor football.
For his sports coverage, Scott has received numerous Illinois Broadcasters Association Silver Dome Awards. He was honored with the American Hockey League’s James H. Ellery Memorial Award in August 2022, which is given in appreciation of exceptional media coverage of the AHL. The prize is given to one media representative from each of the 32 teams in the league, which includes major American and Canadian cities. For his work covering high school basketball, Scott was admitted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2021.
