Shannon is an award-winning journalist working as a Co-Host of KRDO Newsradio’s Morning Drive, which airs Monday through Friday at 4:30 AM and 9 AM. After working for almost 13 years as a reporter for Colorado news stations, Shannon has won four top awards from the Colorado Broadcasters Association for Best Television News Anchor Team. She has also been nominated for eight Emmy Awards in the categories of news writing, reporting, and anchoring. Her team at KRDO Newschannel 13 was the recipient of the 2019 National Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence in the small market television category.

Shannon began her broadcasting career as an intern at KSTF in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She later worked in Cheyenne, Reno, Spokane, Seattle, Denver, Portland, and Sacramento. She worked as an evening news anchor at KKTV in Colorado Springs for six years from 2006–12.  After that, she was hired as an anchor at KOVR CBS 13 in West Sacramento, California. In 2017, she moved back to her hometown of Southern Colorado. While there, she worked as a Marketing Communications Consultant for the State Compensation Insurance Fund.

Shannon has covered many of Southern Colorado’s most iconic stories, such as the Hayman Fire, the New Life Church shooting, the 2019 Bomb Cyclone, and the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Denver. She conducted interviews with First Lady Laura Bush, country music artist Garth Brooks, and movie actors Steve Buscemi, Sylvester Stallone, and Kevin Costner. She even had a small role in Buscemi’s film. In addition, Brinias had positions with several state organizations in California. She oversaw the public information department for the $79 million Interstate-80 SMART Corridor Project in the East Bay region.

Through her ties with numerous non-profits, Brinias developed a specific interest in giving back to the community. Both the Colorado Springs Business Journal and the Colorado Springs Gazette recognized her as a Woman of Influence and Best Emcee. She led Girl Scout troops for eight years, chaired numerous special event fundraisers, volunteered for more than twenty years as a Junior League member, and served as an area board member for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Given that her niece is a heart donor recipient who is currently thriving, she is an outspoken advocate for the work of Donate Life America and the American Heart Association. When she is not working, Brinias likes to play tennis, golf, and skiing. She also likes to upcycle and do DIY projects around the house and on the community garden plot at St. Francis Church.
