Shayla Reaves is an American journalist who has won an Emmy award and currently working at WCCO | CBS Minnesota as a full-time anchor and reporter. Therefore, she anchors the noon newscast and reports for WCCO This Morning. She joined the WCCO team in December of 2020 in
Reaves aggressively creates opportunities where they don’t exist to enable her to do what she wants. Therefore, she came up with a weekly 1 hour virtual series of conversations called “Let’s Chat” and has been working since the pandemic to engage with 100 Minnesotans through the series.
Prior to joining the WCCO team, she worked in Greenville, North Carolina where she co-anchored evening newscasts for CBS affiliate WNCT-TV. This is where she came up with a web series called “Let’s Craft” and produced half-hour specials for television and the web. Additionally, she edited wrote, and voiced as well as shot the series and specials herself. This gave her good engagement with the community, and to try new things connecting viewers to experiences outside their own.
Earlier before joining WNCT in 2017, Shayla worked for four years as a field reporter for Tampa Bay’s #1 rated morning show “Good Day Tampa Bay.” Reaves made a lot of live appearances for “Fox and Friends” reports and also was able to report live for Fox network affiliates as requested.
This made her succeed under pressure since she covered dozens of live shots every morning for networks and affiliates. Further, Shayla served as a fill-in anchor for morning shows in Tampa and Columbus, Ohio. She earned an Emmy for coverage of a train derailment and explosion in Columbus. Also reported in Louisville, Kentucky for four years.
