Every day, she informs viewers of breaking news developments in real-time. She’s also been a part of many election nights throughout the years, including those when Gov. Rick Snyder and Jennifer Granholm, Michigan’s first female governor, were elected.

Susan was employed by WNEM TV5 in the Saginaw/Flint/Bay City/Midland area as the primary anchor of the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts before moving to Grand Rapids in October 1994. She had also previously worked at WEYI-TV25 in Flint, WWTV 9&10 in Cadillac, and WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Susan, a self-described “Michigan girl,” enjoys being outside, hanging out on our stunning lakes and beaches, and fly fishing with her teenage son on nearby rivers. With her own adopted dog named Charlie, Susan is an avid animal lover who also serves on the grant committee of the Bissell Pet Foundation, where she helps find permanent homes for animals in shelters. She also donates to several charities and organizations in West Michigan, such as “I Understand,” a non-profit that raises awareness of mental health issues and works to prevent suicide.

She has finished her training with the American Red Cross chapter in Grand Rapids on disaster preparedness.

Throughout her many years of community and television news service, Susan has won numerous awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, the Associated Press, and the Michigan Emmy Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
