Rich Luterman is an American journalist who works as the Chief Meteorologist for WJBK/FOX 2 news in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant by the U.S. Air Force ROTC, and he worked as a weather officer for four and a half years while on active duty. He led a weather unit in Southwest Asia for half a year during Operation Desert Storm in 1991.

After leaving the Air Force, Rich served as chief meteorologist at WKTV in Utica, New York. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) having received the Seal of Approval in 1994. Rich gives back to the community by teaching young pupils who are interested in weather-related subjects. In addition, he collaborates with the American Diabetes Association to spread awareness, having received a diabetes diagnosis in 2012. Rich also collaborates with veteran organizations in Southeast Michigan. His favorite movies include The King’s Speech, The Right Stuff, Jaws, and The Cider House Rules.
