Stewart is a former English journalist and presenter. He was previously a presenter at ITV News and joined GB News as presenter in 2021. He is a two-time winner of the Royal Television Society’s News Presenter of the Year award. Stewart joined Southern Television in 1976 and then moved to ITN in 1980, where he worked for Channel 4 News for three years before becoming Chief Newsreader for ITV News. He held that position for over 35 years, making him the longest-serving male journalist on British television, having worked on local and national news for 44 years. In January 2020 he resigned as presenter from ITV News.
Stewart is an active supporter of many charities including Kids for Kids, which helps villages in Darfur, and Patron of Naomi House & Jacksplace, a hospice for children and young people near Winchester. He is also an Ambassador for Action for Children and Patron of Brooke – Action for Working Horses and Donkeys. Stewart has appeared twice on the celebrity editions of the game show The Chase.
