His first on-air job was as a weekend sportscaster for WPDE-TV in the Florence/Myrtle Beach area. In 1992, he was hired as a Sports director at WCBD-TV in Charleston, South Carolina. He also worked in the same capacity at WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1999.
