Sandlin is an American journalist working at WISN-TV as the anchor of the 5, 6, and 10 p.m. newscasts on Saturdays and the 5:30 and 10 p.m. newscasts on Sundays. She also reports for a variety of newscasts throughout the week. Sandlin studied journalism and art history abroad for five months while residing in Brussels, Belgium. This laid the foundation for her subsequent experience covering international stories while working for Thomson Reuters Television News. Additionally, she was employed as a reporter and anchor at the NBC affiliate, KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri.
After receiving her degree, Sandlin was named an International Radio Television Society Foundation Fellow. She was then hired as a Production Assistant at NBC in New York City. She spent three months there, before joining WTOC-TV as a Morning anchor in Savannah, Georgia in September 2011. In addition, she co-hosted “Morning Break,” the station’s lifestyle show. During her time in Georgia, Sandlin received the Georgia Associated Press’s “Best Newscast 2018” award and was a nominee for an Emmy in the Southeast for the “Best Morning Newscast’ category.
Additionally, Sandlin oversaw a weekly Facebook live program that linked viewers with regional medical specialists during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, she hosted primetime specials discussing the inequities that people of color faced throughout the pandemic. Sandlin held a one-on-one conversation with then-vice president-elect Kamala Harris just days before the 2020 Georgia election runoff.
Sandlin enjoys being involved in her community. She believes that everyone should have access to the arts, and she has served on the boards of Telfair Museums and the Savannah Music Festival. As a Big Wig fundraiser for Susan G. Komen, she has raised thousands of dollars to help underprivileged women get mammograms and early detection. She likes spending her free time on the lakefront, reading, cooking, trying different restaurants, seeing live music, and exploring museums.
