Who is David Tristan?

David Tristan is an American journalist working at WHTM/ABC 27 News as a Photojournalist in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He has been working with the network since 1997. Throughout the years, David has focused his camera on some of the most significant stories in Midstate history, including the Three Mile Accident, and the fall of the Walnut Street Bridge.

Tristan is an American journalist working at WHTM/ABC 27 News as a Photojournalist in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. When he started in television news they used 16mm movie film to shoot reports. After forty mumble mumble years, we’ve moved from recording on cinema film to videotape and, presently, tiny cards that can store six times as much video as a large roll of film. (A good story is a good story, regardless of the recording medium.)

Throughout the years, David has focused his camera on some of the most significant stories in Midstate history, including the Three Mile Accident, the fall of the Walnut Street Bridge, elections, inaugurations, and an uncountable number of snowstorms, floods, ice jams, windstorms, tornadoes, fires, crimes, and automobile accidents.

He transitioned from television news to digital news in 2021. His passion for charismatic megafauna, science, and history is evident in his stories. (Although unremarkable microfauna can function equally well.) When he is not working, he likes to read, kayak, help sail a replica Viking ship on the Chesapeake Bay, or just hang out at home with his wife and son, who he claims are both smarter than he is.
