Elaina was so fascinated with it that she returned to school online to earn a Broadcast Meteorology certificate. She was subsequently promoted to Chief meteorologist in January 2016 and enjoys working the early shift to get you going in the morning. She still provides KERN Radio with weather forecasts every weekday morning from the 17 Pinpoint Weather Center.

Elaina started her broadcasting career in Yakima, Washington, as a producer before moving to Lawton, Oklahoma, to work as a reporter. She spends part of her leisure time volunteering for the Junior League of Bakersfield and is the board secretary of the Kern County Science Foundation. Her passion is spreading STEM education and literacy throughout Kern County. She likes spending her free time with her family, their two dogs, and their rescue cat Molly.
